Tino is the alias of up-and-coming Copenhagen-based techno producer Aske Bergstein Nielsen. Despite being a newcomer to the scene, his music has the quality of an experienced producer’s – this is both due to natural talent and a tireless work ethic. Tino literally lives in his home studio and works at lightning speed, easily producing an entire track from start to finish in a matter of hours. In his own words, he aims to “provide people with a powerful and euphoric experience, all out of love for that unified feeling only the dancefloor can give you”.

Like the rest of the brilliant, booming Copenhagen scene, Tino does not shy away from setting the tempo way above 140 bpm. However, contrary to most of the techno artists emerging from the Danish capital, Tino is heavily influenced by breakbeat and electro. Several of his tracks are driven by non-straight kick loops and polyrhythmic beat structures, as straightforwardly funky as they are mathematically complex and madly engineered.

Tino’s debut, “Wordplay EP”, is to be released on Seaworld Records, the label associated with the Copenhagen techno event group “Seaworld Tekno Klub”. The EP is a fierce 5-track tour de force boasting a broad musical range. Whether it’s the wild breakbeat opener “Amniote”, the straight 4/4 rolling title track, the melodically introverted “Shockwave”, or the gritty broken-beat banger “Spraylight”, there is something to move every listener out onto the dancefloor. The EP concludes with a remix of the opening track, produced by none other than the well-respected Serbian techno producer Lag. “Wordplay EP” is mastered by Tino’s close friend and mentor CTRLS (Troels B-Knudsen), and will be available on all digital platforms worldwide by May 20, 2020.
